The Challenge
Fragmented systems limiting operational effectiveness
The organisation had accumulated a range of monitoring, reporting, and control systems over successive years. Each had been introduced to address a specific requirement, but the resulting landscape was fragmented and difficult to manage. Data sat in disconnected silos, with no consistent structure linking hardware inputs to software outputs to operational decision-making.
This fragmentation introduced operational overhead, reduced confidence in reporting accuracy, and created blind spots where performance issues could develop without detection. The absence of a unifying architecture meant that improvements in one area rarely translated to benefits elsewhere.
The Approach
Aligning hardware, software, and delivery into a cohesive structure
Rather than replacing individual systems piecemeal, the approach took a wider view of the operational environment. The Salient Fusion® ecosystem framework was applied to assess how existing systems related to one another, where data flows were broken or duplicated, and where structural alignment would deliver the greatest improvement in operational clarity.
This ecosystem-level assessment informed a phased programme of integration, prioritising the connections that would generate the most immediate operational value while establishing a framework for progressive improvement over time.
The Solution
Integrated sensing devices with structured software architecture
Salient Synergy led the integration effort, working across the existing infrastructure to establish consistent data pathways between hardware inputs and the analytics layer. Where gaps existed in the sensing infrastructure, Salient Sense® devices were deployed to capture data that was previously unavailable or manually recorded.
Salient Vision® provided the structured software layer, creating a normalised data environment where information from disparate sources could be compared, analysed, and presented in a consistent format. The platform was configured to reflect the organisation’s operational structure, aligning dashboards and reporting with the way teams actually work.
The Outcome
Improved transparency and more reliable performance insight
The ecosystem approach delivered a level of operational transparency that had not been achievable under the previous fragmented model. Teams gained access to consistent, reliable data that accurately reflected the state of the systems they were responsible for managing.
Reporting confidence improved significantly, with operational decisions increasingly supported by current, verified data rather than periodic estimates. The structured architecture also reduced the overhead associated with maintaining and reconciling multiple disconnected systems, freeing operational capacity for higher-value activities.
