The Challenge
Fragmented oversight across geographically separated sites
The organisation managed operations across multiple locations, each with different infrastructure, reporting systems, and monitoring approaches. Performance data from one site could not be easily compared with another. Operational teams worked within their own environments without a consistent framework for assessing performance across the wider portfolio.
This lack of a unified view meant that performance deviations at individual sites could persist undetected for extended periods. Decision-making was localised and reactive, with limited ability to identify systemic trends or allocate resources based on comparative performance.
The Approach
A connected architecture for consistent, real-time data collection
The approach focused on creating a common data architecture capable of spanning multiple locations without requiring each site to adopt identical infrastructure. Sensing hardware was selected and configured to suit the specific characteristics of each environment, while the data it captured was standardised at the platform level to enable direct comparison.
The architecture was designed for progressive deployment, allowing sites to be brought online incrementally without disrupting existing operations. Connectivity was established through secure, low-overhead protocols appropriate to each location’s network environment.
The Solution
Sensing hardware with cloud-based monitoring software
Salient Sense® devices were deployed across each location, configured to capture environmental and operational data at consistent intervals. The hardware was selected to accommodate the physical and network conditions specific to each site, from controlled office environments to more demanding industrial settings.
Data from all locations was consolidated through Salient Vision®, providing a centralised monitoring interface with the ability to view individual site performance or compare across the portfolio. Alerts and thresholds were configured to surface deviations automatically, reducing the reliance on manual review.
The Outcome
Faster response times and improved cross-site oversight
Centralised visibility enabled the organisation to identify and respond to performance issues significantly faster than under the previous model. Where deviations had previously taken days or weeks to surface through manual reporting, they were now flagged in near real-time, allowing operational teams to intervene before issues compounded.
The consistent data framework also enabled meaningful benchmarking between sites for the first time, supporting more informed decisions about maintenance scheduling, resource allocation, and capital investment prioritisation.
